Fabric Recycling Now Available at Moss, Inc.

The squeky wheel gets the oil....and Moss is now taking back their polyester printed products for recycling!  If you can remove the extra hardware on your fabric and get it back to their warehouse in Elk Grove Village , then you can keep it out of a landfill.

Here is a picture of their new baler, insn't it pretty?  Moss's old printed products that get collected for recycling cannot be melted and turned into new print quality fabric, that is impossible as of January 27, 2012.  Anyone else who tells you otherwise is not being completely honest with you.  What does happen is that the collected printed polyester products are shredded and used to make  agregate, horse bedding, insulation.....and hot dogs.

Q-Light Board by Naporo

Robert Schwimmer from Naporo in Austira was kind enough to send me a prototype of their Q-Light board.  Made from Typha (we call it cattail in the USA),  it's a  lightweight and strong panel board.  I thought the picture of the X5 on their product looked impressive , please download the attached product brochure for more info.

Electronics Recycling

I went to TBF Computing last week, they were kind enough to show me around the warehouse.  They securely refurbish old electronics, shred hard drives that cannot be securely wiped clean for re-purpsose, and if all else fails they send the junkiest of the junk to Creative Recycling to break electonics into plastics, glass, ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

TBF recently picked up over a thousand pounds of broken, used and obsolete electronics from our Chicago office.  While this service is not free, it cost the same or less as waste that would normally go to a landfill.

It was valuable to visit a vendor, and also see at what scale and pace our economy is getting rid of electronics and computers.

Boxed Water?

At a coffee shop, and noticed they sell boxed water.  The best part is it costs $2 for one litre, which is about 34 fluid ounces.  Pretty competitive retail product, if you ask me.  The product has been around for about three years, and is currently being sold in several states.  Might be a good alternative for your next event or tradeshow.
